Frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

Q: What does Vreman 3D Lab do?
Vreman 3D Lab provides custom product development services, including CAD design, 3D printing, laser cutting, electroplating, prototyping, and engineering consultation. We help turn ideas into functional, physical products.

Q: Do I need a 3D model before placing an order?
No. If you don’t have a file, we can create one for you through our Custom File Creation service. You can submit sketches, photos, dimensions, or even an existing part for reverse engineering.

Q: Can you modify an existing file I found online?
Yes. We can adjust dimensions, fix geometry issues, add features, or optimize a model for printing or manufacturing.

3D PRINTING

Q: What materials do you offer for 3D printing?
PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU (flexible), specialty composites, and more. Material recommendations depend on strength, temperature resistance, flexibility, and aesthetics.

Q: What is the maximum print size you can produce?
This varies by machine, but most parts can be printed in a single piece, and larger parts can be segmented and assembled cleanly.

Q: Can you print functional parts, not just prototypes?
Absolutely. Many of our prints are used in robotics, automotive projects, mechanical assemblies, and product testing.

DESIGN & ENGINEERING

Q: Can you help with design improvements?
Yes. We can optimize geometry, weight, material use, strength, and manufacturability using engineering analysis and practical design experience.

Q: What if I don’t know which material or process I need?
Tell us your goals, and we’ll recommend the ideal material and fabrication method based on cost, durability, aesthetics, and performance.

LASER CUTTING / ENGRAVING

Q: What materials can you engrave or cut?
Wood, acrylic, and select metals. If you’re unsure whether your material is compatible, just ask—we can guide you.

Q: Can you engrave logos, photos, and custom artwork?
Yes. We can prepare and convert artwork for clean engraving, with optional design assistance if your file needs refinement.

ELECTROPLATING

Q: Can you electroplate 3D printed parts?
Yes. Our electroplating process adds a real metallic coating—such as copper or nickel—for enhanced strength, conductivity, and a polished finish.

Q: Why electroplate a printed part instead of using metal?
Electroplating provides the look and some functional benefits of metal at a fraction of the cost and weight.

CUSTOM MECHANICAL & MECHATRONICS KITS

Q: Do you offer educational or demonstration kits?
Yes. We design and fabricate custom mechanical kits—such as engine models, linkages, and moving assemblies—for makers, educators, and robotics programs.

Q: Can I request a custom mechanism or moving system?
Yes. Provide your concept or goal, and we’ll engineer a kit or assembly that meets your needs.

REVERSE ENGINEERING

Q: Can you recreate a part if mine is broken or discontinued?
Yes. We can measure, model, and reproduce physical components—even if no original drawings exist.

Q: Can you improve the original design?
Yes. We can strengthen weak points, change dimensions, update materials, or add new features.

ORDERING / PRICING

Q: How do I get a quote?
Send your files, dimensions, or idea through our Contact page. We review every project individually to provide accurate pricing.

Q: What factors affect cost?
Material choice, part volume, complexity, post-processing, and turnaround time.

Q: Do you ship orders?
Yes. We ship throughout the U.S., and local pickup may be available depending on your location.

TURNAROUND & PROCESS

Q: How long does it take to complete a project?
Simple prints may be ready in days; complex engineering projects require more time. We’ll provide an estimated timeline during quoting.

Q: Can I order multiple units or production runs?
Yes. We support one-offs, prototypes, and low-volume manufacturing.
